Dear Aztec Community, Aztec Schools is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System and Standard Response Protocol in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. The Standard Response Protocol utilizes clear common language district wide in response to unplanned events. Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system. The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Please be patient with us as we implement this new technology. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district. Sincerely, Aztec Schools

Good Afternoon, Tiger Community. After continuous monitoring of the various weather models, we believe that we will be able to successfully and safely host tonight’s celebration at Fred Cook Stadium. As a reminder, should there be cloud-to-ground lightning strikes within ten (10) miles of the stadium at any time from 6PM on, all graduates will seek shelter in the C.V. Koogler Middle School cafeteria. Guests of the graduates in attendance must exit the stadium and wait in their respective vehicles. Once there has been a period of at least thirty (30) minutes with no lightning within ten (10) miles of the stadium, guests will be permitted back into the stadium and the ceremony will continue. Additionally, the ceremony will also be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phTUJ9ymPzw We can’t wait to see you tonight! Aztec Municipal School District

Dear Tiger Community, Despite inconsistent weather models, we have made the difficult decision to continue as previously planned with tonight’s Aztec High School graduation ceremony, scheduled for 7PM at Fred Cook Stadium. Gates to the parking lot will open at 4:00PM and the gates to the stadium will open at 6:00PM. With Fred Cook Stadium being primarily a metal structure, it has little to no shelter available for large crowds in the event of inclement weather such as lightning. As a result, should there be cloud-to-ground lightning strikes within ten (10) miles of the stadium at any time from 6PM on, all graduates will seek shelter in the C.V. While we know that there is always a chance that thunderstorms develop, most of the weather models indicate that from 5:00PM onward that chance is low until after 9:00PM, according to the National Weather Service. It is our hope that this prediction is accurate. We know that there is no correct decision; however, we believe it is best to continue with the ceremony at Fred Cook in order to not limit the attendance of our graduates’ guests for this deserved ceremony. WE WILL CONTINUE TO ASSESS THE LIKELIHOOD OF LIGHTNING AND WILL MAKE ONE LAST AND FINAL DETERMINATION TODAY, MAY 19, 2023 AT 2:00PM. WE WILL EITHER CONFIRM THE DECISION OF CONTINUING WITH THE CEREMONY AT FRED COOK STADIUM OR MOVE THE CEREMONY TO LILLYWHITE GYMNASIUM AT THAT TIME. As always, we appreciate your understanding and grace and cannot wait to celebrate our 2023 AHS graduates with you this evening! Thank you, Aztec Municipal School District

Hello Tiger Community, Please join us in extending congratulations to the AMSD Choir students! Mr. Cranfill notified us that all three of our choirs earned the highest possible rating of "SUPERIOR" at the Music Performance Assessment (MPA) competition. In total, Aztec had 58 singers there. That's 150% of what we had last year. Perhaps most importantly, our students were respectful and well-behaved throughout the event. Way to go, Aztec Choirs! Finally, we want to extend a special thanks to Pam Prater (praterfam80@gmail.com) for providing the photos of this event to us. Thanks, Aztec Schools
